Mai Chau is approximately 150 km from Hanoi along winding mountain roads. This scenic province is home to some of Vietnam's ethnic minority groups, including the White Thai, Black H'mong, Red Dao and Muong. The local people live mainly on agriculture, traditional weaving and handicrafts. Festivals are observed with traditional dancing and rice wine, and visitors are welcome to join in. An overnight stay in a Thai wooden stilt house makes this rustic experience complete.
