-- Mekong
Delta --
The rice bowl of the South of Vietnam, the Mekong Delta is one
of the most fertile farming areas in the world. The Delta owes
its life to the mighty Mekong River, which begins high in the
mountains of Tibet then flows 4000km in length through China,
Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia before ending in Vietnam, where it
pours into South China Sea. A visit to the Delta offers a look
at a colorful display of rural life with lush vegetation, water
buffaloes, fruit orchards, hardworking fishermen, and excited,
waving children. Places of interest in the Mekong Delta includes
the islands around Mytho, Vinh Long, the floating market in Can
Tho and the pagodas of Chau Doc.
