CLOTHING -
Light clothes are the most appropriate, and don't forget rain
gears! Travellers planning on trekking may wish to bring a warm
polar fleece layer. Long trousers are best in evening to avoid
mosquito bites, and bug repellent is recommended. Since the sun
can be very strong in the tropics, good sunglasses, a hat and
sun-block cream are essential.

-
CURRENCY -
The official currency is the Dong,
although US dollars and EURO are welcome. The exchange rate is
around US$ 1.00 = 15,800 Dong and EURO 1.00 = 17,500 Dong.
Travellers' cheque can be cashed at
major banks for a service fee of 2%-5%. Visa and Mastercards are
accepted at most of the large hotels, restaurants and shops. ATM are
available in the center of Hanoi and Ho CHi Minh City.
We suggest you to
get Vietnam Dong (VND) for your spending in Vietnam. Any remaining
Vietnamese currency can be exchanged at the exchange desk at the
airport when leaving the country.

PASSPORTS AND VISAS -
If
you want to travel to Vietnam, your passports must be valid for at
least six months during the duration of your stay.
Visas are required for all nationalities. Visas are issued in
the Embassies of Vietnam abroad. A one-month visa is usually
sufficient for most visitors. It is also possible to obtain
three-month visas or six month business visas. All visitors
shall obtain a visa authorization for Vietnam prior to arrival.
Easia Travel has the possibility to assist visitors to obtain
these visa authorizations. Easia needs to receive the following
information: Full name and address (same as passport), date and
place of birth, passport number, date of issue and expiry date,
occupation and nationality, arrival/departure dates and flight
references. With such information, Easia will obtain a visa
authorisation for the visitors. Any morning (Monday
to Friday except national holidays), visitors should take this
authorization number, two ID photos, two signed and completed
application forms and fees to the nearest Vietnamese Embassy.
The visa shall be stamped and available at the embassy in the
afternoon, with all fees paid directly to the embassy. If there
is no Vietnamese Embassy in your home country, it is possible
also to pick up your approved visa upon arrival at the
international airports in Hanoi, Danang and Ho Chi Minh City.
In this case Easia needs to receive the visitor personal
information (already mentioned here above). With such
information, Easia Travel will send a letter to the airport and
to clients confirming that the visas will be done at the airport
on their arrival. Two identity photographs and two application
forms are required at the airport. The stamping fees will be
paid directly at the airport. This procedure is valid only if
passengers book their travel arrangements with Easia Travel.

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS -
No vaccinations are officially required. However, it is recommended
that visitors have had vaccinations against yellow fever,
diphtheria, tetanus, polio, hepatitis A & B, typhoid fever, and
meningitis. Malaria prophylaxis is required for those who travel off
the beaten track.

-
INSURANCE -
We strongly advise visitors to have a good medical insurance that
also covers evacuation. In case of serious health problem, medical
facilities in Vietnam are rather limited. It is much wiser to
purchase a good insurance.
